Adventure Scrapbook - Panama

Image
A journey through the Panama Canal is an amazing experience. It is indisputably one of the greatest manmade wonders of the world. Opened in 1914, the 51-mile canal cuts across Panama.   The canal shortened the sailing distance between New York and San Francisco by over 7,000 miles, linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, forever changing world commerce.   More than a million ships have traveled through the intricate lock system, which consists of three sets of locks, Gatun, Pedro Miguel, and Miraflores locks, which rise and lower ships and boats of all sizes from one ocean, across land to the other ocean.   Much of what you see along the canal is industrial, but no less interesting. The magnitude of the accomplishment is simply awe-inspiring. There is also some beautiful jungle scenery and wildlife to view. We saw many birds, a few crocodiles on the Atlantic side, and a small group of coati during this amazing experience.

Review of Autumn Blessing

Image
After reading the first page of Autumn Blessing by Dvora Waysman I feared this novella was going to be a tear-jerker, but thankfully I was wrong. Autumn Blessing turned out to be an uplifting story about dealing with moving on and trying to find happiness again after the death of a soul mate. I doubt many people could read this book and not find something to relate to in their own lives, whether from direct experience or from witnessing a widowed parent try to cope. This was a great story and not one tear was shed in the reading of this book.   Learn more about Dvora at http://dvorawaysman.com/

Adventure Scrapbook - Costa Rican Wonders

Image
Costa Rica is one of the few places, other than the U.S., that I could actually picture taking up residency.   Sure, it’s got some rough areas, but what country doesn’t? After several visits, it still seems as if the positives far outweigh the negatives, the biggest negative being the large number of extremely poisonous snakes (a particular phobia of mine). The country is endowed with spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, diverse environments, wonderful people, and great coffee. From active volcanoes, to lush mountains, to stunning beaches, it’s got something for everyone, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Review of The Captive Bird

Image
The Captive Bird by Clair Sanders is an inspirational and romantic story. The author did an exceptional job handling a complex and delicate subject. She crafted an inspirational story of healing and forgiveness, which unfolded against a backdrop of developing romance. The main character drew me in with her courage and strength, making the book difficult to put down in anticipation of a desperately deserved happy ending.    Although this novel is outside my preferred genre of adventure and suspense, it is the second book I’ve read by Claire Sanders, and I look forward to reading more because she’s just that good. Adventure Scrapbook - Chile

Image
Sometimes I get so caught up in book announcements, events, reviews, blog hops, etc. that I forget why I started this blog in the first place, to Embrace Adventure . The word adventure means something different to nearly everyone.  To some, adventure may be trying a new restaurant or hairstyle, and to others, true adventure can only be defined by climbing Mount Everest or rafting the Colorado River.  To me, adventure is somewhere in between. Through my writing I strive to explore the gamut of adventure with a spattering of actual experiences tossed in with stories of survival conjured from my imagination. In life I have an intense craving to see as much of this fascinating world as possible. To maintain my focus and stay true to my heart, I’ll be sharing my favorite memories and adventures on a more regular basis in a little segment I’ll call, “Adventure Scrapbook.” So, without further ado, here are a couple penguin chicks hanging out in Otway Sound, Chile. I love this photo. Eve

Better She Live By Judy Baker

Image
I’d like to introduce Judy Baker. Judy lives in the beautiful western state of Utah. Though she’s a southerner at heart, she loves the surrounding mountains and the desert valleys. She and her husband enjoy their home with a spoiled ninety pound Airedale named Teal’c. They have three wonderful children that have given them four beautiful grandkids. When not writing the stories that fill her head, she enjoys RVing with her family, stargazing through one of her many telescopes, digging in her wildflower garden, and golfing, or just swinging on the patio while plotting her next story.   Her latest novel, Better She Live , is the second book in the Silver Sage Creek Novel Series. Please enjoy the blurb and exerpts below.     Blurb : Ruby Thornton, the proprietor of the Silver Sage Saloon is a business woman, not a prostitute. But, because she runs a saloon, the proper folks of Silver Sage Creek treat her as such, until the wealthy Richard Webster moves into town. His reputation
